Mining and Oil
We have extended our portfolio of extractive industries in Africa. New reports show who is involved in diamond and copper mining in the DR Congo, who are the key players producing Ghanaian gold, and who benefits from oil-rich Sudan.
Our team has drawn together a broad range of information to present some of the most complete pictures of the ownership of extractive industries in Africa.
Conflict in Sudan
AfDevInfo presents two significant new reports tracking the mechanics of conflict in contemporary Sudan.
This is an innovative project that illustrates the sheer complexity of conflict across the whole country. It reflects current peace accords, resolutions and DDR processes, and maps government miltary structures alongside other armed forces fighting in Sudan.
New Governments in Africa
Changes in the political leadership of several African countries are reflected in our new reports. These include the new Government of National Reconciliation in Cote d’Ivoire; post-election cabinets in Nigeria, Senegal and Burkina Faso; and reshuffled ministers in Malawi and Niger.
Our new online database facility allows you to navigate easily through these governments, tracing biographies, political allegiances, and linkages between people and organisations. As always, MindManager maps show these complex relationships in organigram format.
Mapping the Politics of Health
AfDevInfo is producing a series of reports mapping health infrastructures across Africa. Starting with a pilot project in Cameroon, our reports explore the interface between government, public, private and NGO facilities, and show how major healh services are geographically spread.
This month we have added reports on DR Congo and Namibia – which are available as online datasets, and also as regionally-structured organigrammes.
