Organisation Name of the organisation. Always in English (for indexing purposes). Sub-divisions of large organisations are treated as separate organisations, so where the name is ambiguous you need to refer to the Parent (or Parent Organisations further down the record).
Alternate Name Alternate or correct non-English name.
Abbreviation Abbreviation. This may be a universally recognised abbreviation, or a local acronym used to clarify sub-divisions within large organisations.
Parent The immediate "parent" of the organisation.
u.r.l. The internet address/es of the organisation and any major reference sources. Clicking on the address will take you to the page.
email Internet mail address/es.
Country Country.
Location The town or place. Organisations that cover large areas of land (such as a mine or a large military base) may be assigned locations of their own. Clicking through to a location will enable you to view many of the locations in Google Earth or Google Maps.
Address Physical address.
Postal Address Postal address.
Telephone Telephone numbers.
Fax Fax numbers.
Sector AfDevInfo uses a classification system which defines the function of an organisation.
Organisation Type Classification system defining the type of ownership - Government; public sector; private sector; NGO; etc
Status Year of Establishment and disbandment, and summary of whether organisation is active or not.
Stated Role Direct quotes from an organisation's own description of itself, or mission statement.
Activities Summary of the main activities of an organisation.
Geographical Focus Main area of activities.
Notes Any notes of relevance to the organisation. These may be our researcher's own observations, or direct quotes (i.e. copy and pastes) from other sources.
