Main objective: to guide and coordinate the efforts to build and strengthen science and technology capability in the mines, water, energy and geo-information sector that would assist to achieve the socio-economic development goals of the country.<P>Duties & Responsibilities include:-<P>* Collect, compile & analyze information that enables to undertake detailed study & evaluation of the science and technology situation in the exploration, development and utilization of mineral, water and energy resources of the Country.<P>* Identify science and technology project program ideas and assist researchers in developing proposals in the fields of mines, water, energy and geo-information sector for funding by or through the Commission.<P>* Follow up & assist implementation of science & technology projects that are supported by the government and/or other donor agencies such as Sida/SAREC and the IAEA.<P>* Devise appropriate mechanisms for dissemination of useful research results from the sector.<P>* Facilitate the implementation of the National Mines, Water, Energy and Geo-information Science and Technology policy by serving as the secretariat of the sectoral Science and Technology Council. |
