National Housing Corporation (NHC) of P.O Box 2977, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania is a public enterprise. The Corporation Established in 1962, was Reconstituted in its present form by the Act of Parliament No. 2 of 1990. The Purpose of this reconstitution was to enable NHC Play aggregate role in the housing sector.<P>In this endeavor, NHC 's mission is to provide and facilitate the provision of serviced land, housing and other buildings in Tanzania for use by members of the public for residential, business, industrial and other purposes. The vision of NHC is to become a major mass housing producer and commercial property developer. These responsibilities enhance the limited traditional role of inch of constructing low-cost rental residential buildings in urban areas. |

Historically, the ministry of lands was established as a department Lands and later changed into a full ministry which changed its name according to the functions within that specific period. The current name is Ministry of Lands and Human Settlements Developments which encompasses three sector departments namely; Department of Land Development Services, department of Surveys and Mapping and the department of Human Settlements Development. Other service departments include Economic Planning, Personnel and Administration, Accounts and Management Information Systems. The ministry has an agency dealing with Housing and Building materials research, a commission dealing with Land Use Planning and also the National Housing Corporation.
The mandate of the ministry is to facilitate an effective management of land and human settlements development services for the betterment of social and economic well – being of the Tanzanian society.
