The creation of the Public Policy Coordination Unit (PPCU) was precipitated by the economic changes that took place in the early 1990s. There was a marked decline in economic performance. The budget went into deficit and recurrent expenditures began to grow at a rate that could not be sustained. |

To provide advice to the Prime Minister and his Cabinet, through the Secretary to Cabinet, on ogvernment policy and other issues that come before them; <P>To co-ordinate policy formulation throughout the civil service; <P>To provide assistance to the ministries in formulating policies for their sectors; <P>To review and analyse government policies across all sectors; <P>To assist the Secretary to Cabinet, to quality control Cabinet papeers submitted by Ministries and to follow up and ensure that Cabinet decisions are implemented; <P>To monitor and provide feedback to Cabinet on the implementation of the Millenium Action Plan (MAP) and advise Cabinet on its future development |
