Stated Role To facilitate and regulate the sustainable mining, value addition and marketing of the country's mineral resources for the social and economic well being of Zimbabweans <P>
Activities • Formulate mining development policies. <P>• Monitor and evaluate the implementation of mining development policies <P>• Design mechanisms geared at effective accounting for the country's mineral resources. <P>• Administer and review mining and explosives laws. <P>• Develop and maintain an up-to-date data bank on present/future mineral deposits. <P>• Attract investment in mining industry, e.g. of iron ore, platinum, granite, coal, coal bed methane, etc. <P>• Promote beneficiation of mineral resources. <P>• Promote and develop small-scale mining. <P>• Facilitate the indigenisation of the mining sector. <P>• Supervise and coordinate mining parastatals and state companies. <P>• Provide financial, administrative human resources management support service.
