The Department of Agricultural Research (DAR) is the primary agricultural research organization within the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MAFS) in Lesotho with responsibility of generating agricultural development technologies. DAR is mandated to generate, adapt and transfer agriculture technologies and scientific knowledge and to provide relevant services for both subsistence and commercial farmer and other stakeholders for sustainable development of agriculture – while preserving the natural resource base – in accordance with national agricultural development policies and strategies. DAR is mandated to organise agricultural research in its broad sense, covering crops, livestock, natural resources and other related discipline.<P> |
