| Functions of the department: Ensuring that HRH in all disciplines and at all levels of the service are provided, equitably distributed and optimally utilised. Developing potential capabilities within the existing manpower as well as prevent obsolesces of professional and technical knowledge and skills and provides opportunities for self-development and advancement. Developing and maintaining a comprehensive inventory of health manpower in terms of professions and skills, their distribution, posts approved, recruitment progress, annual intake, out-put and attrition, etc. Periodically producing health manpower status reports providing appropriate information for management decisions. Introduce and maintain a system by which all changes are regularly and promptly reported and the inventory kept up-to-date and reliable. Assist in formulating appropriate policies to attain self-sufficiency in the HRH requirement at all levels of the health service. Carefully study the overall national socioeconomic situation, health development plans and programmes and assist in determining HRH needs priorities and targets. |
