The Tax Policy Unit is under the Division of Financial Affairs.It is responsible for making policies regarding tax reform and tax legislation in both direct and indirect taxes including capital transfer tax. The unit is also responsible for giving technical advice on taxation issues to the Ministry. Further still, the Unit has to carry out research work in order to evaluate the impact of different changes in the legislation to the economy and how they affect tax revenue. Part of the responsibilities of the unit is making forecasts for revenue from both direct and indirect taxes. <P>Such (DTAs) between foreign states foreign states avoid the incidence of double taxation of the same income by two tax jurisdictions. DTAs can therefore increase foreign direct investment in Botswana if non-citizen investors are aware that they are entitled to tax credits in their home countries under provision of DTAs also apply to IFSC companies<P> |
