The Capital Market Unit is responsible for the monitoring of capital markets and financial institutions created by government, to fulfil specific financial market related mandates as per their prescribed acts. <P>. <P>The specific responsibilities are as follows:<P>. <P>• The development of financial sector policies and monitoring the performance of institutions charged with the responsibility of regulating and supervision of capital markets and financial institutions. <P>. <P>• Formulation and reviewing of legislation relating to the regulation of capital markets and non-deposit taking financial institutions. <P>. <P>• Promoting investor education. <P>. <P>• Handling matters pertaining to the financial sector between the Ministry and the Bank of Botswana, including the review of the Bank of Botswana Act, the Banking Act and the Collective Investments Undertaking Act and their attendant regulations. <P>. <P>• The Unit advises Government on appropriate policy framework for the development of financial markets. <P>. <P>• Coordinating anti-money laundering issues. <P> |
