The mandate of the Division is to provide legal advice to the government on the negotiation and drafting of the International and Commecial Agreements. On the commercial side, the Division renders legal advice to Government in the negotiation and drafting of commercial agreements involving government which include , but are not limited to: Contracts for the Procurement of Goods ,Works and Services , Financial Contracts such as Loans and Grants, Subsidiary loan Agreeements between Government and Parastatal Organizations, International Line of Credit Agreements, Performance Bonds, Financial Guarantees and Securities in general.Th Division also advises on Intellectual Property and Competition Law issues. Regarding international matters, the Division advises the Government in the negotiation and drafting of treaties and other international agreementsas well as on the ratification and implementation of such treaties and international agreements.The Division also provides advice in areas involving international trade and the environment.Consequaently , the Division maintains a Treaty Register, which reflects the atatus of multilateral traties and agreements to which the Republic of Botswana is a party.
