Diamond Exploration in Tabakoto & Segala
In 2003 Nevsun Resources (Mali) Ltd. acquired a 170 km2 diamond exploration license which surrounds, and includes Nevsun's Tabakoto and Segala properties. The Kenieba Region of Western Mali has been known to be a diamoniferous kimberlite province since the 1950's and is known to have produced large sized diamonds of commercial quality from both alluvial and hard rock sources. In the past, diamond finds of up to 232 carats have been documented within the region and 24 kimberlite occurrences are known.
