Stated Role To train policy makers and development professionals, to provide advisory services for African governments and regional organisations, to promote original thinking and research on Africa’s policy issues, to become a centre of excellence with full intellectual freedom that will lead the debate on African development issues and uphold the economic independence of African countries.
Activities IDEP concentrates mainly on training. Every year, the Institute trains at the post-graduate level African officials in decision-making positions in the government ministries and other public and private institutions of member States. Within a framework informed by development theories and emerging global issues, the training aims at imparting innovative and strategic ways of addressing development challenges. To this effect, training by high level practioners and academics, is based on case studies, practical applications, exchange of best practices, field visits and lectures.<P>
