Stated Role The East African Community (EAC) Secretariat is working to develop a harmonized, integrated and coordinated e-Government Strategy by the end of 2005. The Canadian e-Policy Resource Centre (CePRC) is working alongside the EAC to facilitate this e-Government initiative and to share the Canadian e-Government experience (2005)
Activities One of the first activities of the programme was to support a workshop to examine, consolidate, share views and extend the existing consensus in East Africa regarding the strategic priorities for e-government.
The workshop particularly focused on raising awareness of the need for a harmonized regional e-strategy as well as to provide a platform for senior officials, private sector and civil society from EAC partner states governments to exchange views on principles, elements and the implementation of national and regional e-strategies.
The outcome of this workshop was the establishment of a Working Group. This Working Group will proceed to develop integrated national strategies that will allow a harmonized approach to service delivery among the three East Africa Partner States
