CDE is an ACP (African, Caribbean and Pacific)/EU joint Institution created in the framework of the Cotonou Agreement.<P>CDE’s financial resources mainly come from the European Development Fund (EDF). Its objective is to ensure the development of professional ACP enterprises operating in the private sector.<P>CDE operates in complementarity with the European Commission, the Secretariat of the ACP Group of States and the European Investment Bank in the framework of support to the private sector.<P> |
| Activities |
direct assistance to SMEs, mainly in the framework of sector programmes that are essential for the economies of the ACP countries, but also for individual projects ;<P>- support for capacity building of intermediary organisations (in complementarity with the Pro-Invest programme, which the Centre has “managed” since 2002), particularly with regard to training and information, to promoting SMEs and to public/private dialogue ;<P>- support for financial institutions, particularly with regard to pre- and post-investment activities in the context of financing SMEs, as well as training SME project appraisers in the financial institutions ;<P>- assistance for ACP consultants as regards training and information, as well as facilitating partnerships with their EU counterparts. |
