GMGL 670: POLITICAL SYSTEMS
DESCRIPTION
The course in Political Systems aims at deepening participants’ knowledge and sharpening their appreciation of the nature, processes and role of politics as they impinge on leadership and governance in the modern world. An introductory review of the main types of political system and the different forms of constitution and government will be followed by an analysis of the major institutions of the political process including the state, political parties, pressure groups and the media. The role of the military, ethnicity, religion and organizations of Civil Society will be discussed in relation to peace and stability in selected (African) countries.
