State-owned electricity utility Botswana Power, which has embarked on a $1,2-billion expansion of the Morupule coal-fired power station, is moving ahead with the implementation of the first phase of its Morupule B expansion plans and will now appoint a contractor to construct the plant [ Retrieved on 14 FEB 2008 ] The Morupule power station provides about 80% of Botswana's power requirements. Faced with diminishing surplus generation capacity in the region, the Botswana Power Corporation (BPC) is proceeding with the implementation of the first phase of the Morupule power station expansion, the Morupule ‘B' pulverised coal-fired power plant project, Project No 2006, comprising four 150-MW units.
