| Stated Role |
The Social Sector provides research, analytical, advisory, policy, project/programme and strategic support to The Presidency and Government as a whole on matters of social policies and social development, including the major challenge confronting the South African society: to eradicate poverty and underdevelopment. The Social Sector's support activities contribute to policies and strategies, Political Principal's addresses and speeches. The Social Sector also provides content, advisory and oversight support and works closely with the Social Sector Cluster of Directors General and the Cabinet Committee for Social Sector. It also facilitates, co-ordinates and organizes relevant meetings of the Presidential Working Groups (i.e. Higher Education, Religious and Youth Sectors). It also represents The Presidency and sometimes the whole of Government at strategic forums, both domestically and internationally. Finally, senior members of the Social Sector serve on Councils, Boards and other high-level decision-making structures on behalf of Government |
