Stated Role Second only to the Diamond Trading Company (DTC) in London, BDVC is the second largest rough diamond sorting and valuing operation in the world <P>BDVC was established in 1972 as a joint venture between De Beers and Botswana Development Corporation to carry out the preliminary sorting of diamonds from Orapa Mine, which was the only operational Mine at the time. In 1977, BDVC became a wholly owned subsidiary of Debswana. BDVC has a work force of more than 500 people<P>Botswana Diamond Valuing Company (BDVC) sorts and values Debswana's entire production of diamonds from the Jwaneng, Orapa, Letlhakane and Damtshaa mines, and associated diamond deposits
