Activities The mission of the Economic Research and Policy Coordination Unit is to help make the dti a strategically-targeted and effective institution through ensuring there is strategic alignment, policy coherence on priority issues, particularly those that promote accelerated and shared economic growth and reliable analysis and research towards the following: <P>Increasing the dti's capabilities to effectively undertake strategic, cross-cutting policy research and analysis pertinent to trade, competition and industrial policies, <P>Improving policy coherence and certainty within the dti by providing high quality analysis and advice to address strategic and cross-cutting policy matters <P>Strengthening cooperative government by engaging relevant government structures on developmental issues <P>Contributing to the building of social consensus on trade and industrial policies amongst stakeholders <P>Strategic support to the political principals and the Director- General <P>Monitoring and evaluation system which measures performance against strategies, business plans and priority projects <P>Impact assessment <P>Managing intergovernmental relations and the dti's participation in the Economic and Employment Cluster <P>Managing stakeholder relations and the dti's participation in Nedlac <P>Research management services <P>Policy and economic analysis <P>Statistical analysis and economic modelling <P>Knowledge management services <P>
