| Stated Role | The Department of National Intelligence was established in 1987 in terms of the National Intelligence Act, Act 19 of 1987. The name of the institution was changed to the Namibia Intelligence Agency by Proclamation 5 of 1990. The Act has been repealed by the Namibia Central Intelligence Service Act, 1997 (Act 10 of 1997), hereinafter called “the Act” in which the current Namibia Central Intelligence Service has been established in terms of Section 3 of the Act. The Act came into operation on 5 June 1998 as per Proclamation 12 of 1998. |
