| Notes | Hon. Joseph Kingi Kahindi, the Member of Parliament for Ganze Constituency in Kilifi district is the Assistant Minister in the Office of the President in-charge-of Provincial Administration. He was born on 15th July 1954 at Mitsemerini village, Bandari Location, Ganze division in Kilifi and is married and blessed with seven (7) children. Kahindi enrolled at Bamba Primary School in 1961 where he completed in 1967 and later joined Ribe Secondary School for his ‘O’ levels certificate from 1968 to 1971. He went to Siriba Teachers’ Training College from 1972 to 1974 when he was awarded a P1 certificate. Currently, he is undertaking a Bachelor of Arts (BA) course in Community Development at Daystar University in Nairobi. He started working as a Primary school teacher in various schools in Taita and Kilifi districts from 1974 to 1981. He was promoted to a headmaster from 1982 to 1984 and headed several primary schools in Kilifi district. In 1988, Kahindi was promoted as an SI teacher and from 1984 to 1986 he served as a Board Member of Kilifi Teachers’ SACCO, where he initiated two landmark housing projects in Kilifi town namely, KTE and KITECOH. Kahindi served as a BEC member of the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT), Kilifi branch from 1986 to 2002 where he rose to various ranks to become the Branch Executive Secretary in 1994. From 1999 to 2002 he served as the Secretary of the KNUT Coast Provincial Council. He has also served as a Member of Board of Governors (BOG), District Development Committee (DDC), District Education Board (DEB), Provincial Education Board (PEB) and several other Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) in Coast Province. His political career started in December 2002 when he was elected to Parliament to represent Ganze constituency and in May 2005 was appointed to his current office.
