The Hon. David Ekwe Lo Ethuro, is the new Assistant Minister in the Ministry. He is the Member of Parliament (MP) for Turkana Central, presently serving his second term in parliament. Mr Ethuro is not a new face in public life, having served as an Assistant Minister in the Ministry of Labour and Human Resource Development during his first term as a member of parliament in the years 1998-2002. His academic career dates back to 1988 when he graduated at the University of Nairobi with a BSc degree in Agriculture after which he pursued Masters in Agricultural Economics at the Clemson University, USA. He has held key positions in Non-Governmental Organizations like Oxfam and KARI.
The 42-year old MP is best known for his efforts to help develop the wider Turkana District through training and participating in several workshops aimed at discussing tangible solutions to the persistent droughts, famine and border conflicts in the Rift Valley. The Assistant Minister is among a group of younger professional MPs charged with the important responsibility of meeting the objectives of the country’s Economic Recovery Strategy (ERS).
