Mrs. Alice Kemunto Mayaka, the permanent secretary in the Ministry for National Heritage in the office of the vice president was born in 1951. Mrs. Kemunto went to Butere Girls High school for O levels and Moi Girls High school for A levels. She holds a master of science in Human Resource Development from the university of Manchester (UK).She also holds a postgraduate Diploma in Curriculum Development from Kenyatta University, and a bachelor of Education in science from university of Nairobi.
Mrs. Mayaka has served as a Deputy director of Human Resource Development and Senior Assistant Director of Human Resource Development. While at the Kenya institute of Education Mrs. Mayaka served as a Senoir lecture for secondary Chemistry.
She has attended several short courses while at DPM. Three day 1st women National conference on HIV/AIDS by ministry of Health,12 week course on Human resource studies in Manchester ,a 2-day course on report Writing at the British council, one week course on performance Management and a four day course on Achieving Outstanding performance at the University of the Witwatersrand.
Mrs. Mayaka performed special assignments while in DPM. She represented DPM in a meeting for ministers, responsible for National planning portfolio in the three East African Countries, to consider three country position and framework papers for integrated policy making, planning and capacity building.
She was also an alternate member on the Moi University Council ,previously attended Egerton University, Maseno University and Jomo Kenyatta University, Member of a national task force which was appointed by then Minister for Research, Science and Technology to address grievances from students of national polytechnics on curricular Examinations and Certification and propose solutions.
She has contributed and coordinated in writing the final task force report on transfer of District Development Institutes from office of the president, provincial Administration and internal security to DPM, Coordinated and contributed in the writing of Government chemistry pupil’s text books and corresponding Teachers guide for the secondary cycle of 8-4-4 system of education.
