Notes Ric Cameron became the Senior Vice President, Canadian International Development Agency on October 20, 2003.
Previously, he served as Assistant Deputy Minister, Energy Sector, in the Department of Natural Resources Canada (2000-2003) overseeing policy, and the development and implementation of science and technology and programs in areas of federal responsibility for energy.
Mr. Cameron joined the public service in 1972 and worked in a number of departments and agencies. In 1981, he moved to the Privy Council Office where he worked in Senior Personnel, Machinery of Government and served as Executive Assistant to the Clerk of the Privy Council and Secretary to Cabinet. In November 1987, he undertook an Executive Interchange assignment with the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet in Australia.
In April 1991, M. Cameron transferred to the Human Resources Branch of the Treasury Board Secretariat where he held a number of senior positions dealing with government-wide human resources’ policies and initiatives, including Assistant Secretary in the Strategic Planning and Analysis Division.
Mr. Cameron was born in Ottawa, has lived in various parts of Canada, the United States and Australia, graduated from Carleton University with a BA in Political Science. Ric and his wife Carol have two daughters
