| Notes | Ban Ki-moon combines two posts for developing countries under one head Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has appointed the United Nations High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States, Cheikh Sidi Diarra of Mali, to also serve as his Special Adviser on Africa. “The realignment of the two functions under the same leadership is aimed at strengthening the Organization’s ability to perform and deliver its services more efficiently, while at the same time respecting the distinctive character of each programme,” spokesperson Michele Montas told reporters today.
