| Notes | Honourable Lincoln Ralechate ‘Mokose was born in Kolonyama in the district of Leribe on the 24th of February in 1949. He did his primary education at Kolonyama Lower Primary School, from 1951 to 1963, to achieve his lower primary qualification. From 1964 to 1965 he did his Standard Six at Cana Higher Primary School. In 1966 he was doing his Cambridge Overseas School Certificate at Peka High School and finished it in 1970. He then went to Morija Training Collage in 1974 to do Advanced Teacher Course before heading to The National University of Lesotho where he did Bachelor of Arts Honours in English Language. Honourable ‘Mokose also studied at the University of Birmingham, Nuffield Foundation Fellow. He worked as Assistant Teacher at Leribe Secondary School in 1971 until 1981 when he left to work at Cana High School as Assistant Teacher for a year. In 1982 he left the country and was employed in Swaziland at Vuvulane High School as Assistant Teacher for four years. He returned to be Assistant Teacher at Leribe High School. In 1987 he was nominated for the position of Headmaster at the same school. In 1992 left Leribe High School to assume a position of Chief Inspector in the Ministry of Education. From 1978 to 1980 he was the President of the National University of Lesotho Student Union. Between 1987 and 1991, Honourable ‘Mokose pioneered initiatives on education with production at Leribe High School, which became a learning centre for Lesotho primary and high schools. His efforts influenced the Ministry of Education’s self-reliance policy of education. Honourable ‘Mokose was appointed High Commissioner of Lesotho in South Africa, Pretoria but in that same year, he proceeded to Copenhagen, Denmark, having been elected an Ambassador. The other Nordic countries that the Honourable ‘Mokose worked in include Republic of Poland and The Russian Federation. He was elected as a Member of Parliament in 2002 in the Kolonyama Constituency during the 2002 general elections and was subsequently appointed Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly. After the 2003 cabinet reshuffle, Honourable ‘Mokose was appointed Minister of Forestry and Land Reclamation. Mr. ‘Mokose also played a significant role in the administration of sports especially in schools and at his home district. In 1988 he became President of Lesotho Institutions Sports Association (LISA) until 1991 when he was chosen to be Vice President of Linare Football Club. On the political sphere, Honourable Ralechate ‘Mokose contributed immensely in the formulation and translation of the education chapter of the BCP manifesto 1993. The Honourable ‘Mokose is married with three children, two boys and a girl. His hobbies are listening to traditional music, travelling and watching television news. |
