Lekhetho obtained a Certificate in Management from Lesotho Cooperative College in Maseru, and studied business administration at university. Having come from a remote part of Lesotho, Lekhetho has always aspired to achieve change that would improve the lives of young people. Professionally, he has been involved with civil society movements, working as a Desk Supervisor of democracy and human rights programs at Development for Peace Education in Maseru. He was previously a research assistant for Sechaba Consultants, also in Maseru. His work involved conducting public gatherings, focus group discussions and questionnaire interviews. He currently works as a program coordinator for Joining Hands, which identifies causes of poverty in Lesotho and, with a network of organizations throughout the country, develops strategies for long-term change.
