Notes Sacking of Justin Morel
The Minister Justin Morel Junior was sacked on the 3rd, January 2008 by a decree signed by the President Lansana Conte. The dismissal came after a criticism by the government of Prime Minister Lansana Kouyate followed in a New Year's presidential address to the nation. The address said Kouyate's team had not met expectations, was running "barely operational" ministerial departments, failing to curb inflation and undermining national cohesion and governance.
Kouyate retaliated late on 2nd, January 2008 by a message delivered by the Communication Minister Morel, insisting "an error had slipped into" the Dec. 5 2007 decree. Kouyate said he had discussed the New Year's address with Conte, who had reaffirmed his complete confidence in the prime minister.
The Minister Justin Morel was replaced by the news agency's director, Issa Conde.
