Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM) Senior member of the SPLM/A before breaking away with Riek Machar and Gordon Kong Chuol - both Nuer - to form the SPLM/A-Nasir in a rebellion that split the movement in 1991. He broke with Riek in 1995, becoming chairman of SPLM/A-United, signed an agreement with the government in 1997 and served as its transport minister for five years. In 2002 he resigned from the ruling National Congress (NC) party, and became a key member of the newly formed opposition Justice Party. Rejoined SPLM/A in October 2003, but not with full support of his militia. Dissenting members of SPLM/A-United still active in Shilluk kingdom. Membership of the SPLM/A: A – Left the University and joined the SPLA in April 1986. B – Appointed Alternate Member of the Political-Military High Command of the SPLM/A on 1/7/1986. C – Was Zonal Commander of Northern Upper Nile ( 1987 – 1988 ) and Southern Blue Nile (1990 – 1991) . D – Director of the SPLM Office of Co-ordination and External Relations, OCER, (1988 – 1990). E – SPLM Chief Negotiator on Peace Talks (1988 – 1991). F – SPLM Negotiator of and focal point on Operation Lifeline Sudan, (1989 – 1990).
