| Notes | Hon Khupe is a 43-year old mother blessed with three children who include twins Reginald and Ronald and daughter Shamiso. A resident of Bulawayo. Vice President Khupe was born in Bulawayo Province and grew up in the high density suburb of Mpopoma Township and Magwegwe North Township. The MDC Vice President was born from a family of six children three boys and three girls. She attended her primary school at Mpumelelo before doing her secondary education at St Bernard’s Secondary in Bulawayo from 1979-82. A founder member of the MDC in 1999, the Vice President’s political career started when she joined the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Union (ZCTU) and has a strong labour background. In 1992 she was elected ZCTU Secretary For Women Advisory Council, a post she held until 2000 when she quit trade unionism to concentrate on her political duties as a legislator when she was elected MP for Makokoba. She is a former General Council member of the ZCTU and sat on the board of The Worker, a weekly bulletin of the ZCTU. At the MDC’s inaugural Congress held in Chitungwiza in January 2000, she was elected into the National Executive as the Secretary for Transport, Logistics & Welfare. She was re-elected Makokoba MP in 2005 to continue the projects she had initiated in the constituency. In 2000, she became MDC Deputy Chief Whip and Deputy Chairperson for the Women Parliamentary Caucus. The MDC Vice President is also a member of Intra-Parliamentary Union (IPU). She is a Member of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committees of Budget &Finance, Gender, Youth &Development and Defense & Home Affairs She was elected Vice President at the MDC Second Congress in 2006, a post she holds until today. The Vice President is a holder of a Bachelor of Arts in Media Studies obtained with the Zimbabwe Open University.
