ED REGE (Kenya) is Director of the Biotechnology Theme. He joined one of ILRI’s two predecessors, the International Livestock Centre for Africa (ILCA), in 1990, where he started ILRI’s animal genetic resources program. Before that, he was a senior lecturer at the University of Nairobi, where he headed Animal Genetics and Breeding in the Department of Animal Production. His Theme mitigates threats to the assets of the poor by developing livestock vaccines and diagnostics and applying genetic tools to characterize, conserve and better use livestock diversity.
