Profile of Dr Adama Traore: Dr Traore obtained his PhD in veterinary medicine with high distinction from Karl Marx University, Leipzig, Germany. Most of his career has been devoted to research and later to research for development. On completion of his PhD he became Head, Animal Genetics and Husbandry at Sotuba National Center for Livestock Research in Mali. Four years later, he was seconded to the International Livestock Center for Africa (ILCA), now ILRI as Head of ILCA’s Health and Nutrition Programin the arid and semiarid zone. In 1990 he was appointed FAO Expert in applied research in Togo and Chief Technical Adviser on a research and development project where he stayed until his return to Mali in 1998.
