Notes Profile of Dr Tichaona Mudzingwa:
Dr Tichaona Mudzingwa was born in Buhera from a family of six sisters and brother. His parents were peasant farmers.
He joined the National Democratic Party youth wing in January 1960, whilst at school at Fletcher High in Gweru. He is a former member of Zanu PF and ZAPU and underwent military training as a guerrilla fighter in Tanzania, Mozambique and Zambia, founding member and first Vice President of MDC in 1999.In 2000-2007 member of the National Executive being secretary for Health, Security. Currently he is the Secretary for Defense and Home Affairs.
Tichaona is a war veteran and was member of the Military High Command during the liberation war 1975-1980, he is the first medical doctor to receive full military training and to be deployed to the military front in Zambia and Mozambique in 1975-1980. He is a Retired Army Colonel from the Zimbabwe National Army from 1980-1994. He was commander of the Zimbabwe Medical Corps and awarded several medals for the service in the army.
He was MDC candidate in Buhera North parliamentary elections in 2005. He is a Member of the National Executive Committe
Dr Mudzingwa is a Medical Doctor and Specialist in War Surgeon.
