His Worship Mayor Misheck Shoko was born on 14 June in 1960, he is married to Barbara and is blessed with five children 4 boys and one girl.
Mayor Shoko political association with the party began in 1999 when he joined the Movement For Democratic Change (MDC) and was appointed Chitungwiza Secretary for Ward 24.In 2000 he was made the MDC District Secretary for Chitungwiza Province.
The party in 2002 nominated Shoko to stand as a mayor for Chitungwiza City and he was elected into the Chitungwiza Town House.
Chitungwiza is a dormitory town to Harare and has over a million residents, with majority them working in the capital city and commuting back to Chitungwiza town for about 30 kilometers from Harare.
In 2005 Mayor Shoko was suspended from office by the regime, which had become a systematic programme of firing MDC mayors countrywide and appointing commissioners to run the affairs of the cities at the expense of the ratepayers..
Mayor Shoko has appealed to the courts for his reinstatement and the matter is still to be heard in the courts.
Mayor Shoko is a liberation war veteran who fought on the war on the side of Zanla forces in 1978,and receiving his military training in Mozambique at Samakweza Camp.
A teacher by profession Mayor Shoko holds a bachelor of Education and Masters Educational Administration degrees from the University of Zimbabwe.
