Mr Jallow, a career intelligence officer was the first Director of the then National Security Service (NSS) when it was formed by the PPP regime. He also served as Commissioner to the North Bank Region in the First Republic. Following the change of government in 1994, Mr Jallow served as the Gambia’s Ambassador to the United Nations until his recall in the late 90’s. He was then appointed as Permanent Secretary at the Department of State for Defence and later moved to the Department of State for the Interior where he served until the expiry of his contract. In 2002, he was again appointed as Gambia High Commissioner to The Federal Republic of Nigeria the position he held until his new appointment.
