Dr. Andrew Mullei was appointed Governor of the Central Bank of Kenya on 4th March 2003. He previously served in various high-ranking positions in several reputable institutions and committees among them the Institute for Policy Analysis and Research, African Economic Research Consortium, K-Rep Bank, National Anti-Corruption Strategy Committee, Ad Hoc Committee of Economic Advisors to the President of Kenya among others. His global exposure saw him serve as Advisor and Alternate Executive Director at the International Monetary Fund, the Trade Policy Advisor to the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, Regional Director for Africa of the International Center for Economic Growth, Advisory Board Member of African Review of Money, Finance and Banking in Milan, Italy, Director General of the African Center for Monetary Studies in Dakar, Senegal, Association of African Central Banks, Member, Non-Aligned Movement Advisory Group of Experts on External Debt in Jarkata, Indonesia, Member, Scientific Advisory Committee for United Nations University Initiative on Comparative Regional Integration Studies, Belgium to name a few.
