| Notes | The Honourable Dr. Motloheloa Phooko was born in Qacha’s Nek at Hill-Side on September 12, 1939. Dr. Phooko did his primary education in Qacha’s Nek Primary School, from 1945 to 1951 and did standard 4. He moved to Mechaeling Primary School in 1952 and finished standard 6 in 1953. He proceeded to Roma Collage in 1954 and completed his Junior Certificate in 1956. He did Joint Matriculation Board in 1958. From 1959 to 1961 he was employed in the Ministry of Health as Health Assistant. In 1961 he was in Hadassah Medical School in Jerusalem. From 1968 to 1969 he did his internship at Kitwe Hospital in Zambia, where he became senior Houseman from 1969 to 1970. He again joined the Ministry of Health for four years, from 1970 to 1974, as a medical doctor, later in that year he joined private practice, the work he did until 2002 when he joined politics. He has played some important roles in the community development as a member of village committee, a member of likhetlana L.E.C as well as a member of consistory L.E.C. Dr. Phooko was awarded Professional Service Award by Medical Association. He was, furthermore, appointed Chairman of Council of the National University of Lesotho. He was a member of Council of state and was a member of Lesotho Medical,Dental and Pharmacy Council. He has attended several international conferences and courses. He is married and blessed with two children, a son and a daughter. He enjoys sports, farming and highly appreciates ‘Do-it yourself’ projects. |
