Notes Mr Teleko Ramotsoari was born in Lesobeng in the District of Thaba Tseka in 1955. He joined the Ministry of Health & Social Welfare as Principal Secretary in April 2003. Mr Ramotsoari graduated in BA economics at the National University of Lesotho in 1980. In 1984, after working as an assistant economic planner in the Ministry of Agriculture he obtained an MA Development Management from Beacon college in Washington DC.
Mr Ramotsoari has worked extensively in the Agricultural sector where he succeeded to rise to the level of Director for the Economics and Marketing Department and became Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Development Planning in 2001, until 2003 when he joined the Ministry of Health. Key activities undertaken during Mr Ramotsoari’s time in the Ministry of Health & Social Welfare include the development of a sector policy and strategic plan, forging a memorandum of understanding with CHAL, piloting the decentralization process in three districts and other important initiatives being implemented under the Health Sector Reform Programme. For Mr Ramotsoari the biggest challenge facing the country and the health sector in particular is to ensure that all the resources that have been mobilized to combat the impact of HIV/AIDS are used effectively and efficiently so that the benefit for all those who are living with the diseases as well as those who are affected, specifically the orphans is maximized.
