Notes The Honourable ‘Mamphono Khaketla was born in Maseru on March 05, 1960.
Dr Khaketla did her primary education at Iketsetseng private School in the Maseru District from 1964 to 1970. She also did her Junior Certificate at the very school in 1973.
From 1974 to 1975, she was at Maseru Day High School where she completed her Cambridge Overseas School Certificate .
She later did her Secondary teachers Certificate (STC) at National Teachers Training College (NTTC) from 1976 to 1978. From the there she went to the National University of Lesotho (NUL) where she finished her Diploma in Education in 1980. She proceeded to do Bachelor of Education and completed it in 1982. In 1986 she was admitted for Masters of Arts degree at University of Wisconsin and she also enrolled for PhD at the same university and graduated in 1991.
Dr. Khaketla was once employed as mathematics lecturer at NTTC from 1981 to 1992. She also worked for Wisconsin Centre for Education Research from 1989 to 1990. She became assistant Director of NTTC between the years 1992 and 1995. She was later employed Chief Education Officer in the Ministry of Education from 1995 to 1996. In 1996 she was Country Director at the Institute of Development Management. (IDM) Lesotho. A year later, in 1997, she was appointed Regional Director of IDM (Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland) until 2001 when she became a Director at the Centre of Accounting Studies.
She has played some role in the Community: She served on the Lesotho Educational research Association (LERA) committee from 1993 to 1995.Dr Khaketla also served on the Boards of Examinations Council of Lesotho (ECOL), National Health Training College (NHTC), National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC) and the Mathematics panel. Internationally, she was board member of MS Lesotho from 1996 to 1997,Board member of MS training Centre for development Co-operation (TCDC) Tanzania from 2000 to 2002 and was external examiner of the University of Limerick, Ireland in 1998.
She was awarded the Albert SABIN Rotary Fellow in 1986, African Graduate (AFGRAD) Fellow in 1998. She was also Exchange teacher in 1984 for Canadian Crossroads International. Dr. Khaketla was also awarded the Madison Vilas Fellow in 1988 by the University of Wisconsin.
Honourable Khaketla is a certified Wedding and Event Management Consultant and a Published researcher. She was a member of Maseru Singers choral group.
DR. Khaketla is married and has one daughter. She likes sports, Listening to music and reading.
