Before joining Government in November 2004, Mr Moroka worked for BP Botswana, a subsidiary of British Petroleum where he served as General Manager, Director and Chairman of the Board of Directors for seven years after which he went to Zambia to become the Managing Director of BP Zambia. In 2001 he was transferred to BP South Africa to hold the portfolio of Commercial Director, responsible for BP’s commercial (direct sales) activities in the 13 Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) countries and Kenya. His responsibilities included strategy formulation, government liaison and corporate governance as well as overseeing the successful financial performances of the BP subsidiaries in these SADC countries. Mr Moroka is a Biologist by profession and has vast experience in Wildlife Biology. He also has experience in the banking industry, where he served as Agricultural Advisor to Barclays Bank of Botswana before transferring to retail and corporate banking. His past Board directorships include, among others, National Development Bank, Bank of Botswana, BP Mozambique, Zambia and South Africa, Botswana Meat Commission (UK) Holdings London and Botswana as well as the Debswana Diamond Mining Company.
