| Notes | Assassination Attempt *Friday 29/06/2007: Soro Guillaume narrowly escaped an assassination at the airport of Bouake (stronghold of the New Forces, former rebels) following a violent attack where two members of his protocol and two others of his security died. Graduated in English at the Faculty of letters, arts and human sciences of University of Abidjan-Cocody, Soro attended the Theological Seminary of Katiola in 1985 (Centre of Cote d'Ivoire) and the Lycee Classique d'Abidjan secondary school (1988). His student life is marked by a fierce syndicate activity as a head of the Federation of Students of Cote d'Ivoire (FESCI) for which he will be the Secretary General from 1994 to december 1998.This role as the head of FESCI leads to his arrest and imprisonment several times. Then, he left his country and headed for France in order to pursue his studies in English language and Political Studies respectively at Universities of Paris VII and Paris VIII. He came back to Cote d'Ivoire soon after of the first coup d'Etat the 19 december 1999. Months later, he exiled following the events of october 2000, only to come back in 2002 as Secretary General of New Forces for which he was the founder of the Patriotic Movement of Cote d'Ivoire (MPCI). He first entered the Government in march 2003 as a State Minister in charge of Communication. Diplômé du département d’anglais de la Faculté des lettres, arts et sciences humaines de l’université d’Abidjan-Cocody, Soro Guillaume est un ancien pensionnaire du petit séminaire de Katiola (1985) et du lycée classique de Bouaké (1988). Sa vie estudiantine est marquée par une intense activité syndicale à la tête de la Fédération estudiantine et scolaire de Côte d’Ivoire (FESCI) dont il sera le secrétaire général de 1994 à décembre 1998. Cela lui vaudra plusieurs arrestations et séjours carcéraux, avec en prime, le statut de prisonnier d’opinion par Amnesty International en 1995 et Homme de l’année, en Côte d’Ivoire, en 1997. Après la Côte d’Ivoire, Soro Guillaume poursuit ses études en France où il s’inscrit en Anglais à Paris VII et en Sciences politiques à Paris VIII. Il revient en Côte d’Ivoire quelques semaines avant les événements du 19 décembre 1999. Contraint de s’exiler après les événements d’octobre, décembre 2000 et janvier 2001, il devient, cette même année, secrétaire général du Mouvement patriotique de Côte d’Ivoire (MPCI) dont il est membre fondateur. A l’issue de l’échec des négociations de Lomé, Soro Guillaume est désigné premier responsable des trois mouvements (MJP, MPIGO et MPCI), le 22 décembre 2002. De mars 2003 à décembre 2005, Soro Guillaume est nommé ministre d’Etat, ministre de la Communication dans le gouvernement de réconciliation nationale dirigé par le Premier ministre Seydou Elimane Diarra. Le 28 décembre 2005, il est nommé ministre d’Etat, ministre chargé du Programme de la reconstruction et de la réinsertion dans le gouvernement dirigé par le Premier ministre Charles Konan Banny.
